Twin-turret, Twin-spindle Turn/Mill Center

Mazak Corporationmill center is designed to machine workpieces completely in a single setup. Called the Multiplex 6200Y, this twin-turret, twin-spindle unit can save throughput time, setup time, and work-in-process inventory. Its Y-axis drive is integrated in the turret's movement, which can increase productivity with rapid feed rates (X=1,200 ipm, Z=1,300 ipm, Y=394 ipm and C=400 rpm) and 2.5 sec spindle acceleration/deceleration response time.

Twin-opposed spindles work independently or continuously on the same workpiece to complete the first and second operations. The addition of an integral Y axis allows it to cut perpendicular to the spindle, which delivers full machining capabilities including drilling, milling, and tapping on or off the centerline.

The center is constructed with a rigid Meehanite cast iron base and a gearless, beltless, low-vibration headstock with thermal displacement for improved surface finishes. The Mazatrol Fusion 640 CNC control ensures high throughput and uptime, which is said to combine advanced CNC and PC technology to boost efficiency on the shopfloor.
