V80 CNC Vertical Turning Center
The base of this machine is made of polymer casting with excellent vibration damping capabilities, which provides fast speed of 87" table, extended tool life, and perfect surface finish. The table accommodates up to 44,000 LB part pieces, with maximum swing of 99".
80 HP table drive motor is vertically mounted on the machine base, thus providing shop floor saving and eliminating noisy bevel gear transmission. Instead, the power is transmitted via chevron type belt directly to three-range gearbox with hydraulic speed range preselection. All gears, including the crown one, are carbonized and ground to fully conform to AGMA 12 accuracy, and assure stunningly low noise level, even at 280 RPM.
The top part of the machine is made primarily of cast iron, including two columns, crossrail with hardened and ground guide ways of boxed shape, and saddles. Typically, the right side of the crossrail accommodates a saddle with turning ram made of forged steel, hardened to 55-60 HRC, and ground. The left side of the crossrail may accommodate the second saddle with live spindle ram or probes for accurate double side part measuring. The crossrail moves vertically by 47", and can be hydraulically clamped in any of 6 positions equally spanned by 9" to assure minimum ram extension and up to 11,200 LB cutting force.
One ram, 12-position toolchanger, full walk-in type enclosure, and chip conveyor are standard equipment. Options include second ram, live spindle with C-axis, additional toolchangers of 12-32 positions, part and tool probes, a range of manual and hydraulic chucks. The machine is designed to be equipped with pallet changers, and easily integrated into Flexible Manufacturing Cells.
With Olympia manufacturing plant located in North America, the machine can be customized to meet the requirements of any application. It is ideal for aerospace and power applications. For example, it can cut Inconnel up to 1/2" deep at one pass maintaining very tight tolerances. No wonder the first six machines have been sold to produce parts for large aircraft engines and power gas turbines in Florida and Ohio where they can be viewed any time.
Olympia¹s entire product line of CNC Vertical Turning Centers and Horizontal Boring Mills is manufactured in Toronto, Canada. These machines are backed by 3 year parts and labor warranty, 24 hour field service support, and lifetime free training.
