The CS 20 vertical spindle turning machine can form the basis of a highly effective turning cell for small batch or production work with the addition of an optional workfeeder. The inverted vertical spindle loads and unloads workpieces automatically within a 13.77-in.maximum turning diameter and 5.9-in. length envelope.
In cellular or standalone machining configuration, the 12-tool turret chucker machine features rapid traverse of 1181 ipm in X- and Z-axes. The 15-hp spindle delivers 30-5,000 rpm and features an 8.25 in. chuck. X-axis travel is 48.6 in. and Z-axis is 12.6 in.
Control is supplied by Seicos Sigma 21L, with a programmed front-end that makes it possible, among other things, to view premachining cutter path just like a PC. The control features G-code programming, canned cycles and other features of the underlying Fanuc control.
