Walter Waukesha emerges as a full-line, global tooling source
The combination of Waukesha Cutting Tools Inc. (Waukesha, WI) and Walter AG (Tubingen, Germany) has created a new full-line tooling manufacturer of global dimensions. Waukesha Cutting Tools, a recognized innovator in use of carbide as replaceable and indexable edges for holemaking tools, includes among its products drilling and boring tools, turning and milling tool systems, side and slotting cutters, and indexable cutters.
In combining with Walter, Waukesha adds 6,000 product lines to its portfolio with R&D capabilities and a worldwide support structure. The Walter/Waukesha relationship started in 1979 when Walter licensed Waukesha to manufacture its indexable carbide tools. Walter, a pioneer in tungsten carbide powders, has held an investment interest in Waukesha since 1988 and completed its 100% acquisition of the company in November 1999.
Walter AG is known for the production and distribution of tooling for metalworking industries, software for tool data management, CNC grinding, and measuring machines.
Walter Waukesha distributors will benefit from a larger presence in the marketplace through a much larger marketing program, including a full program of trade advertising, effective use of the Internet, increased participating at major trade exhibitions, and a systematic public relations program.
