Westec2000: Emco-Maier New Model Turns Complex Parts

Emco-Maier Corp (Columbus, OH) introduced the Emcoturn 332 MC CNC lathe with modular variations to tackle the most complex geometry parts in one setup. Model configurations include both 3-axis and 4-axis variations. The 3-axis CNC lathe features main headstock and counter headstock with one 12-fold tool turret VDI-25 with option for driven tools.

The 4-axis CNC version, which was shown at Westec, features main and counter headstock, two 12-fold tool turrets VDI-25 with optional driven tools. CNC Control is the Siemens Sinumerik 840D with digital Simodrive 611 D drive system, designed to provide extraordinarily high dynamics and contour accuracy. Functions required for complete machining, such as driven tools and C-axis capability are included.

Main spindle drive is 10 kW with speed range from 0-8000 rpm with maximum torque of 53Nm. The counter spindle is 10 kW delivering speeds from 0-7000 rpm with maximum torque of 45 Nm. Maximum diameter turned is 140 mm with length turned between clamping of 480 mm.

The Emcoturn 332 MC features a high-performance programming editor, which allows workpieces to be programmed quickly and efficiently directly at the machine. Auxiliary graphics and clear text messages ensure accurate entry of values. Cycles can be defined via parameters, providing support in programming repetitive machining actions.

For complex parts with geometrically undetermined contour elements, a high performance processor is available which makes programming of nearly all contours an easy task. The program can be checked on the screen before machining by graphic simulation.

Emco-Maier can provide automation solutions for producing specific parts and components. An integrated loading system has been designed and is available for machining parts between centers as well as for one-sided and complete machining. The swivel loader consists of two NC axes for the axial and swivelling movement and can automatically load and unload the workpieces.
