The Merlin family of CMMs has been expanded with the addition of a new 63-in. (1600 mm) X axis (bridge) measuring capacity and is available with 39-in. (1,000 mm) or new 49-in. (1,250 mm) Z axis measuring ranges. The 1600 Merlin can be supplied with 88-in. (2,250 mm) or 118-in. (3,000 mm) granite tables. Designed and built to rugged machine tool standards, the Merlin 1600 features volumetric accuracy of 8µm when measuring in touch probe mode and accepts the wide range of Renishaw measuring and scanning probes. Merlin is supplied with the VirtualDMIS measuring software and allows the generation of inspection programs from CAD data before actual part manufacturing is begun. In addition, Rapid Scanning allows reverse engineering of parts with scanned data accumulated at the rate of 8 point/second using a standard touch probe with the resultant scanned curve or surface exported in IGES format.
