Wire-Cut EDM

Charmilles Technologies Corp. 2030SI machine accepts wire ranging from 50 to 300 microns in diameter, and has an optional add-on that enables the use of 30 micro wire. It takes minutes to adjust from one wire width to another, and for decreasing set-up times, this machine features an automatic wire threading system that searches out offset starting holes. Developed for high levels of automation, this machine can run high cutting speeds over numerous hours of unattended operation. This output can be augmented by the integration of a robot.

Equipped with a Surface Integrity (SI) generator, this machine creates finishes comparable to those obtained by grinding, even on materials that demand optimal surface integrity like steel and carbide. The software on this system monitors job conditions and automatically adjusts settings. This software allows the user to program simple parts independent from jobs already under way. This is done directly on the numerical control with a 32 bit CPU and 1 GB hard drive.
