YBM-640V Mold & Die Miller
Two original Yasda designs contribute to the unparalleled performance of their machines. First, each Mold & Die Miller features a pre-load self-adjusting spindle and Direct Drive system with a diaphragm coupling for top-quality surface finishing and heavy-duty cutting capability.
Unlike standard fixed-positioned pre-load systems, Yasda's spindle performs heavy-duty cutting at low speeds and ultra-fine finishing at high speeds. This is possible only because the spindle maintains an ideal pre-load at all times across the entire spindle speed range. Yasda's spindle can remove much more material in one pass than any other. This is due to the stiffness of the spindle, derived from the pre-load self-adjusting mechanism. Manufacturers of other "high-speed" machining systems recommend a
shallow cutting depth with faster feedrates and spindle speeds in order to increase material removal rates.
This approach can double or even triple the tool path length, significantly reducing the tool life per material rate and increasing tool cost. The savings realized by Yasda's material removal rates easily justifies the relatively above average cost of a Yasda precision center in just a few years.
Yasda's Direct Drive system features a diaphragm coupling for high spindle rotation accuracy,
isolation of vibration and heat from the spindle drive motor, and an enhanced surface finish. Most manufacturers use a built-in motor spindle as their high-speed spindle. This approach creates more vibration and thermal distortion to the spindle and makes the maintenance of spindle stiffness impossible for other manufacturers.
Second, Yasda's design features an exclusive "Thermal Distortion Stabilizing System." Temperature fluctuation of the machine shop and self-generating heat from the machine can impact performance. Yasda's system circulates a temperature-controlled fluid through the main components of the machine, minimizing the thermal distortion of the machine structure. Controlling distortion is essential in long duration cavity surface finishing operations, and high-precision machining applications.
The YBM-640V is one of several Mold & Die Millers available from Yasda's highly efficient and accurate line. It features spindle speeds from 50 - 10,000 rpm (100 - 20,000 rpm optional) and a rapid feed of 15m/min. (600"/min.).
