Yasda, the hard milling specialist, introduces its new YBM- 950V Vertical Mold & Die Miller
Elk Grove Village, IL - Yasda, the hard milling specialist, introduces its new YBM- 950V Vertical Mold & Die Miller. Incredibly, it is capable of high-speed hard milling of pre-hardened steel up to 62 HRC. Specifically designed to efficiently mill steel mold inserts, mold components, and die parts right from the hardened block, the new Yasda 950V provides unrivaled stock removal rates (as high as 10 times better than any other machine), cutter life results (anywhere from 2 to 5 times longer), and surface finish results (as much as 1.5 to 3 times better). The fact is, there isn't another high-speed hard milling machine in its class that can deliver the same level of stock removal, cutter life, and surface finish.

Several original Yasda functions contribute to the machine's unparalleled performance. First, each Yasda Mold & Die Miller features a pre-load self-adjusting spindle. Unlike standard fixed-position pre-load systems, Yasda's spindle self-adjusts and maintains optimum pre-load throughout the entire spindle speed range. Because of this design, optimum spindle rigidity is assured, to allow ultimate stock removal with fine finish machining.

Next, Yasda's Direct Drive system is designed to include a diaphragm coupling for accurate spindle rotation. It isolates vibration and heat from the spindle drive motor, and enhances machining accuracy, cutter life performance, and surface finish. Most manufacturers use a built-in motor type for their high-speed hard milling spindle. This, however, creates vibration and uneven rotation at the cutter edge, and causes premature cutter wear and poor surface finish results when compared to Yasda.

Best of all, Yasda stands by their patented self-adjusting preload spindle with an unprecedented spindle guarantee of 20,000 hours - whether you're milling material hardened to HRC40, HRC50, or even HRC62.

Also exclusive to Yasda is its "Thermal Distortion Stabilizing System". Temperature fluctuation of the machine shop and self-generating heat from the machining process can impact performance. Yasda's system circulates a temperature-controlled fluid through the main components of the machine, minimizing the thermal distortion of the machine structure. Controlling distortion is essential for optimum machining accuracy of die and mold parts; especially for finishing operations that require long duration cutting (several hours) with the same cutter, and for high-precision machining applications.

The YBM-950V is one of several Mold & Die Millers available from Yasda's highly efficient and accurate line. It features a 40 x 20 in. table with an X, Y, Z travel of 35 x 20 x 14 in., a table load capacity of 1,760 lbs, a maximum spindle speed of 20,000 rpm, a maximum rapid feed of 800 ipm, and a maximum feedrate of 500 ipm. All of this size, power, and speed has been finely tuned for optimum accuracy, rigidity, and efficiency with the new release of Yasda's latest version of the HPCC function, HAS-2.
